Details

This is a Grade 5 moderate holiday which includes full day walks and Nordic Walking with moderate amounts of ascent and descent. The paths are mostly good, but there may be some steep and rough ground. Walks will last up to 6 hours and could involve as much as 750m of ascent and descent. Some walks will be less demanding but equally rewarding. As well as walking, there are other activities planned throughout the week.

The house can accommodate up to 21 people and comprises of 11 bedrooms (7 rooms have en-suite facilities, 4 rooms have shared facilities). The house has a dining room where breakfasts and evening meals are taken and also a large lounge for relaxing and taking in the views. There is also a bar in the lounge offering wines, beers and spirits at reasonable prices. A guest kitchen is also available with free tea & coffee for guests. Free W-Fi is available throughout the house.

Prices are from £659 per person (half board accommodation, the services of one leader, packed lunches on walking days, yoga & Pilates sessions, Nordic walking, half day kayaking) based sharing a twin room with shared facilities. Supplements apply for sole occupancy of a room.

By car - from Preston (M6) leave the motorway at junction 40 to join the A66 to just beyond Keswick and continue on the minor road following Newlands Valley via Stair and Keskadale to Buttermere. Reaching the edge of Buttermere village, turn left on to the B5289 and continue for approximately 1¼ miles and Hassness estate is on the right.
Alternatively take the B5289 from Keswick via Grange, Borrowdale and Gatesgarth direct to Hassness and the estate will be on your left.
By public transport - the nearest railway station to Hassness is Penrith. You will need to take a bus to Keswick bus station. Once here a taxi or 50 minute bus ride will take you to Hassness House. Hassness House isn’t reachable by public bus in the winter months (from November to Easter).
